Pukeko in a Ponga Tree Ornament
Any Kiwi Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a ‘pukeko in a ponga tree’. Inspired by the poem by Kingi Ihaka (1981) we’ve created the cutest pukeko to hang in your christmas tree this year.
Your pukeko ornament has the words “Pukeko in a Ponga” tree impressed in the clay with 2x silver ferns under the phrase. The ceramic ornament is coloured red, glazed and finished with 3mm red satin ribbon.
Makes for a wonderful gift to send overseas this year.
Dimension: H9.5cm x W9cm
The pukeko ornament comes supplied with a Little White Box tag with the words of the poem on the back.
“On the twelfth day of Christmas My true love gave to me Twelve piupius swinging, Eleven haka lessons, Ten juicy fish heads, Nine sacks of pipis, Eight plants of puha, Seven eels a swimming, Six pois a twirling Five - big - fat - pigs! Four huhu grubs, Three flax kits, Two kumera and a pukeko in a ponga tree!” (Ponga tree is another name for silver fern)
